What is a structured communication?

A structured communication (gestructureerde mededeling / communication structurée, also OGM or VCS) is a 12-digit payment reference used in Belgium. The first 10 digits are free; the last 2 are check digits: the remainder of the first 10 digits divided by 97 (97 if the remainder is 0).

With a structured communication, your bank can match incoming payments to invoices automatically. Put it on your invoice and in your payment QR code.

Payments to the tax administration

For VAT, advance tax payments and withholding tax you must use the structured communication given by the FPS Finance (in MyMinfin or on the payment notice). Do not create your own for those payments.
